Winnie The Pooh

Winnie the Pooh was named after a stuffed bear owned by AA Milne's son, Christopher Robin Milne. The Winnie the Pooh stories are set in the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex in England . The stories were made into a series of Winnie the Pooh films by Walt Disney. The other characters are named after toys that belonged to Christopher Milne although Christopher Robin, Owl and Rabbit are based on real people or animals. Christopher Robin's toy bear is now on display at the Donnell Library Center Central Children's Room. Winnie-the-Pooh the bear was created by writer A. A. Milne appears in the books Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner. A.A. Milne also wrote two books of children's poetry featuring Winnie the Pooh, When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six and they were illustrated by E. H. Shepard.

Winnie the Pooh baby shower

Winnie the Pooh stories are childhood favorites and many adults have fond memories of hearing the tales as kids themselves. A timeless classic, Pooh can be a big part of a child's life not only through books and film, but also as bedroom décor, favorite toys, and more. A Winnie the Pooh baby shower theme is a great way to celebrate a little one on the way as well as provide decorations that the guests themselves will enjoy. Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, and the others are whimsical characters that make any occasion fun.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh...

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh...

Disney's 1977 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh may be the last word on (animated) Pooh because it so faithfully honors the first word on Pooh, penned in the 1920s by British storyteller A.A. Milne. Gently paced, subtly humorous, and blessedly understated, this adaptation reflects Walt Disney's... Read more

Winnie the Pooh - Very Merry Pooh Year

Pooh Bear and his pals in the Hundred Acre Wood celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve in a pair of adventures folded into this 65-minute made-for-video feature. In the first, the silly old bear plays Saint Nick to his buddies ("I always thought he'd be taller") after failing to get an errant wish... Read more

Winnie the Pooh - Frankenpooh/Spookable...

A spooky theme runs through several stories in this collection. "The Monster Frankenpooh" finds Dr. Von Tigger turning Pooh into a somewhat familiar-looking, scary creature. "Things That Go Piglet in the Night" features the characters on a ghost chase, and "Pooh Moon" finds Pooh and... Read more

The Tigger Movie

The Tigger Movie

The paucity of quality family movies available is underscored by the fact that everything about The Tigger Movie screams direct-to-video, yet it has put up some impressive box-office numbers. Its very premise belies Tigger's memorable song, "the most wonderful thing about tiggers is, I'm the only... Read more

Winnie The Pooh Books and stories

Winnie the pooh is a fabulous fellow. Very fond of food - particularly Honey and always thinking of his stomach. Rather pompous bless him but very well intentioned. Somehow all his adventures and mistakes turn out well in the end. One of the joys of Pooh Bear and of all the characters in Winnie the Pooh stories are that they are so real. They always remind me of one or other members of my family. They are not perfect but although every character has his faults (and which of us doesn't), every character is valued for their own special talents and gifts. No one is left out even grumpy old Eyeore, and everyone does their best for each other in their own way.

One of my personal favourites is the story of how Winnie the Pooh goes to visit Rabbit in his Rabbit Hole. Rabbit is a very self important person. Always rushing about on an important mission and organising people, but somehow failing to accomplish much. Pooh loves him and can't resist when Rabbit invites him in 'for a little something'. Pooh eats so much that when he comes to leave he gets stuck in Rabbits front door.

Another of my favourite Pooh stories involves Pooh trying to get some honey from a bees nest in a tree. He tries to fool the bees into thinking he is a little cloud floating in the sky (a blue balloon). I love this story and when my children were small I used to wrap my baby son up in a beautiful thick soft towel with winnie the Pooh and the honey bees on it. He looked so sweet peeping out from it... Read more
